Green Staff
Rob Gee,Head Green keeper, Mark Widdop and Dean Wilson, make up the green keeping staff at Crow Nest Park Golf Club.Winter 2012/13:
A programme of work for the winter has been put in place. Because of the financial squeeze caused by the awful weather experienced this last 12 months, the programme of work has been established so that most of the work has been of a manual nature.
The programme has included Removing the old tractor path near the 9th green and it`s repair and the building of a new path from the 18th green to the new car park. Much of the area next to the existing "Rockery" and in front of the new extensions patio is to be improved also.In due course new signage will be introduced will will direct the traffic from the 9th green towards the 10th tee and from the 18th green to the new car park area and the shoe cleaner..
Work has been ongoing on a few of the Greens which have held water during the recent poor weather. the aim of this work has been to improve the drainage.
The two bunkers adjacent to the 7th Green have had new drainage introduced which is designed to avoid future flooding. In addition new lining is being introduced to these bunkers and also to additional bunkers, in order to improve the ongoing playability of these hazards.
Rob and his team have also been improvingthe drainage of the problematic 2nd fairway. New drainage is being laid and should help the damp conditions which have been a regular feature of this hole in recent times. Photos of the work are attached.
Much tidying work has been undertaken this winter and will continue to be the case as we endevour to improve both the visual impact of the course and its playability.
As we move forward towards spring it is anticipated that more course sand will be introduced to protect and dry up some of the traditional wetspots of the course.
Before the start of the playing season, a new information board is to be erected near to the existing 1st tee.
