Despite the effects of a hard night of celebrating Captains Day the evening before. our 4 scratch players recorded a total score of 607. Well done to Ben Adamson 75,70, Nathan Scott 76,71, Chris Mowl 76,81 & Steve Smith 80,78.

MIGHTY MITCHELL WINS AGAIN.

After a 6 year gap Andy Mitchell returned to the winners enclosure with a stunning victory in the 2010 Captains Day Cup. In the last group out Mitchell shot a front nine of 34 and kept his nerve to return a gross 69 net 63, beating runner up Tom Holmes by 2 shots.
The pleasant weather conditions helped the days events which culminated with a tremendous evening event which was attended by over approx 140 members and guests who all enjoyed the Barbecue, Surf Board simulator, Disco and singing by "Bubbles". It was a night enjoyed by everyone and a fitting tribute to this years Captain, Glyn Owen.

GREAT SCOTT,WHAT A DAY !!
The Golden Jubillee Pairs Major Competition held on Saturday 10th July saw Nathan Scott extend his great run of golf with yet another win, this time partnered by the perennial Nick (good shot) Day.

Last weekend saw the 27 Hole Golden Jubillee Trophy competition played over three loops of Crow Nest`s 9 holes. The event tests the stamina of all who play with the format being 9 holes of Betterball, 9 of greensomes and the last 9 holes being foursomes.
The winners were Nick Day and his young partner Nathan Scott. Nathan is having a "purple year having already won two major competitions prior to this win, and having also equalled the course record with a fine 66 a few weeks ago.

PAST CAPTAINS ON TOUR
The weekend starting the 2nd July, saw the Crow Nest Park Golf Club Annual Past Captains Trip take place in Scarborough. This golfing trip has taken place since 2002 and has seen the Past Captains visit the Costa del Sol, The Algarve, Turkey, the Costa Brava and last year North Wales. This years trip was the second consecutive playing for the Burke Trophy on home soil.
Despite playing golf during the english summer the Captains enjoyed wonderfully sunny conditions and played at some of Yorkshires finest courses, playing Fulford York, both Northcliffe & Southcliffe Golf Clubs in Scarborough and finishing at Kirkbymoorside.
The winning Past Captain was former winner Shaun Higgins who virtually destroyed the 11 other players on days 1& 2 with scores of 41 & 43 stableford points. Despite a spirited attempt to claw back the deficit on days 3 & 4 by the other Past Captains, Higgins held onto his lead for a 5 point victory.
After a super 3 course meal at the North Yorkshire Club, Higgins dedicated his win to his father who had passed away earlier this year.
All the Past Captains had thouroghly enjoyed their 4 days of golf and all returned home suitably tanned and tired after an hectic calendar of golf and socialising.

The picture shows winner Shaun Higgins with the Burke Trophy.
Scores 41,,,43,,,27,,,35 for a total of 146

THE MASTERS TOURNAMENT 2010.

What a day that was, great weather, great course conditions, great food and great scores. Yet again Crow Nest proved that we can produce something special. This years Masters was no exception.
the course was bathed in sunshine most of the day and there was very little wind. Nathan Scott (in red hot form) equalled the course record and shot a gross 66 for a tremendous 43 stableford points.
the Ladies Masters was won by former Lady Captain, Ann Stafford who beat off Barbara Horrocks into second place.
Once again Cambo & Walts surpassed themselves with an excellent all day Barbecue.

DON`T CRYER FOR ME RGREATWINNA (Ouch !)

Rabbit Captain John Cryer enjoyed a great day and crowned it off by presenting the Rabbit Day Cup to longstanding member Jim Roberts. The winners emotional acceptance speech was short in words but big in passion.
Despite poor weather throughout the day, the evening brought a tremendous turnout with standing room only being the issue in the main lounge. Members were brilliantly entertained by Michelle Walker, with her rendition of "Don`t cry for me Argentina" and after by John Cryer`s step brother, who performed his own unique style of humour and Neil Diamond tribute songs. He rocked the house and went down as one of the best performers ever to perform at The Nest.

Competition winners were
Jim Roberts (Rabbit Captains Day Cup)
Nathan Scott  (Tigers Comp)
Ruth Wilson (Ladies Comp)
Harry Mowl (Junior Winner)
Well done Mr Rabbit Captain.
