Crow Nest Park Golf Club

The Captain’s Welcome to Crow Nest Park Golf Club

I am very pleased to welcome you to the Crow Nest Park Golf Club web site for the 2008/09 season and to the year of my Captaincy.
We have a great club here within a pleasant environment, and a friendly atmosphere in the club house.

Visitors are always welcome, and I would love to meet new members to the club over the year.
It's a great honour to take on board the Captaincy of this very special club.

This is now my sixth year as a member, and I have seen so many changes in my time with the club.
It has been a learning curve for me to get used to the way the club runs its administration as I have not previously held an official position in any golf club. I do have a lot of experience of running organisations and businesses though, and I hope to bring all of my skills and experience to the Captaincy, and to help the club to have a very successful year.

I am a born and bred Bradfordian and of Indian descent, but a Yorkshireman through and through. One of my greatest passions is for sport, although not initially for golf.

By the age of 21 I had been three times Bradford champion at badminton.
In 1977 I had trials for Yorkshire Cricket Club, and I played in the Yorkshire league for nine years. I have been on numerous cricket committees in Yorkshire and the Humber over the years, and have organised four international cricket tours.

In 1986 I was Bradford squash champion, and from 1988 through to 1991 I played semi-professional squash in the Yorkshire premier division with some of the best players in the world.

I only took up golf as a sport in 1995, when my legs could no longer play squash, and since then I have never looked back. I sometimes wish that I had started golf earlier and become a better player than I am, but age catches up on everybody, and aches and pains no longer disappear over night!

When I first joined the club I was made to feel really welcome. The camaraderie at the club I thought was fantastic!

It didn't take me long to realise that this was a special place to be. I hope you will feel the same excitement and belonging that I have experienced when you visit us at the club this year.

As Captain I have three aims for 2008/09,

Firstly I want to make sure that the club maintains and develops its social activities, with members and their families involved in a whole variety of events and competitions.

Secondly I want to make sure that the values of the club – good facilities and good enjoyment – are promoted to new and existing member,

And thirdly I want to ensure there is respect for the club and for its members, regardless of their age, sex culture or circumstances. The common denominator has to be our love of playing golf.

So, enjoy touring the web site, enjoy visiting the club, and let's have a great year playing golf together and having a good time!
